Business activities were thrown into disarray on Thursday at the Polaris Bank branch in Amenyi, Awka, Anambra State, after burglars broke into the premises and carted away an undisclosed amount of money from the bank’s vault.
The incident was discovered by the branch manager, Mrs. Okpara Ugoo Chiaka, when she arrived for work around 7:30 a.m. According to her, the banking hall, offices, and vault had been forcefully broken into and ransacked, with cash missing from the strong room.
The burglary has sparked anxiety among customers and staff, as the total amount stolen has not yet been disclosed.
Sources within the bank confirmed that internal investigations have commenced, while the police have been invited to launch a full-scale probe into the incident.
